A growing North Texas city is building a massive new city hall. In Roanoke, leaders said it was important to keep it in line with the city's "old town" charm. On the south end of downtown Roanoke, it’s hard to miss – the $13 million, two story building that’s going up. The new city hall, where Mayor Carl “Scooter” Gierisch will have a spectacular view of downtown.

North Texas New Development

The initial phase of a massive North Texas campus for financial giant Charles Schwab & Co. (NYSE: SCHW). It will house 2,600 employees when finished in 2019, with enough room to accommodate 5,000 employees. In addition, the Westlake campus, which is being developed on a 70-acre parcel at State Highways 170 and 114, will include a park open to the public and a lake.

Trophy Club Town Center

The project will have 250 luxury apartments on the north side of the site on Trophy Club Drive and Texas 114. Moreover, the mixed-use project will have 39 town homes, a 137-room Aloft Hotel and 50,000-square feet of retail and restaurant space.


However, the apartments will be built by North American Properties with an urban design, meaning the parking garage will be in the center and the entrances to the units will be interior. The town homes will start in the $350,000 range with a minimum of 2,000 square feet.

  

In summary, the commercial area will be mostly restaurants, entertainment or service-oriented retail that doesn’t compete with e-commerce. Also, trails, open space and gathering areas that will be owned and maintained by the developer. There will also be special parking for golf carts.

Downtown / Denton, Texas

The Denton County Courthouse-on-the-Square is the former courthouse of  Denton County Located in the county seat Denton, Texas. Denton County Courthouse-on-the-Square was constructed in 1896. In addition to county offices, the "Courthouse-on-the-Square Museum" also calls it home.  


Thiscourthouse is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

It is also the final resting place of John B. Denton, the county's and city's namesake.


Last of all, The Courthouse-on-the-Square Museum focuses on the history and culture of Denton County. Exhibits include African American and Hispanic heritage, farming, weapons, dolls, Southwest American Indian and Denton County pottery, furniture, and special collections of American pressed blue glass, thimbles, Pecan folk art and quilts.
